Fix sign-in problems
When a code doesn't come, a sign-in runs out, or 1stHour won't open your ward.
1stHour has no passwords. You sign in with your email and a code it emails you. Most problems come down to which email you used, or whether your ward still lists it. This page goes through each one.
1. The code doesn't come
- Check that the email on the screen is the one your ward invited.
- Look in your spam or junk folder for an email from 1stHour.
- Tap Send a new code. It says We sent a new code. Use the newest email.
- Type the code from the newest email and tap Sign in.
A code works for a few minutes only; the email says how long. If it still doesn't come, tap Use a different email and try the address your ward has for you.
2. Your sign-in ran out
A phone or computer stays signed in while you open 1stHour at least once every 30 days, for about three months (see staying signed in). Most of the time it renews by itself.
When it can't, a line at the top says Your sign-in ends in and the minutes left, with Sign in again. Once it ends, Your sign-in expired opens over the page.
- Tap Sign in again. A code goes to the email shown under Signed in as.
- Type the code and tap Sign in.
The page stays where you were and reads itself again. Use a different account signs this phone out and opens sign-in for another email.
If you're offline, it says You're offline. Your sign-in renews once you're back online. It renews without a code once the signal is back.
3. "That account can no longer open this ward."
You proved your email, but your ward no longer lists it. Usually that's because:
- the bishopric or the clerk removed your sign-in, or changed it to a new address;
- you were released, and your sign-in was removed with the calling.
Ask your bishopric or clerk. If your address changed, sign in with the new one. If you still serve, they can invite you again from Settings → Your ward → Who can sign in.
4. 1stHour offers to set up a ward
If no ward lists your email, 1stHour says No ward has invited this email yet. and offers to set one up. That happens to someone who was never invited, and to someone released or removed.
Don't start a new ward to get back into yours. Ask your bishopric to invite you, then sign in again with the email they used. If you think you typed the wrong address, tap Use a different email.
5. The invitation never came
You don't need the invitation email. An invitation is waiting for your address for two weeks from the day it was sent.
- Open app.1sthour.app and enter the email your ward invited. Tap Continue.
- Type the code it sends you.
Signing in accepts the invitation. If no ward is found, the address may be mistyped. The bishopric or the clerk can Remove the row and invite you again with the right address (see who can sign in). If the address is right, they can tap Send it again for a new email.
6. "This invitation has expired."
An invitation lets you sign in for two weeks from the day it was sent. After that, sign-in says This invitation has expired. Ask your bishopric to send it again.
Ask the bishopric or the clerk to open your row in Who can sign in and tap Send it again. A new invitation email comes, good for two more weeks. Then sign in with the same email.
Once you've signed in, your sign-in no longer depends on the invitation. It never expires this way again.
7. One email in two wards
If your email serves in more than one ward, sign-in says This email serves in more than one ward. Choose one. Each ward shows its name and your role there. Tap the one you want.
To switch to the other ward, sign out and sign in again, then choose it (see how to sign out). Each ward invites you on its own. Your role, notifications and connected AI apps belong to the ward you're signed in to.
If a ward has moved, sign-in says Your ward has moved and offers a button to its new address. Sign in there with the same email.
