Shape your Sunday programs
The templates every Sunday starts from, the blocks you reuse, and changing one Sunday.
- Where
- Settings → Sacrament meeting
Every Sunday is built from a template: the program a kind of Sunday starts with, such as Standard Sunday or Fast & Testimony. Each part of a program is a block: the welcome, a hymn, the sacrament, the speakers. You change the template once, and the Sundays ahead follow it. For one Sunday only, change that Sunday.
Nothing on these screens is sent to anyone.
1. Change a template
SettingsSacrament meetingMeeting templates
- Open Meeting templates and tap the template, such as Standard Sunday.
- Tap a block to change its words (see the block editor).
- Use ↑ and ↓ on a block's row to move it, or drag it.
- Tap ✕ to take a block out. It asks first; tap Remove it.
- To add one, tap + Add a standing block and pick it: a block from the Block library, or one of the usual blocks.
Each change saves as you make it. The speakers, the ward business and the announcements say Fills in each Sunday: what goes in them is picked on each Sunday, not here.
A template other than Standard Sunday also has a Name and a Description. The description shows under its name here and when someone picks a kind of Sunday.
2. Set how many talks a Sunday plans for
SettingsSacrament meetingMeeting templates
On the template's speakers block, each talk is a chip: Youth, Adult or Stake.
- Tap + Youth speaker, + Adult speaker or + Stake speaker to add a talk.
- Tap a chip to take that talk out.
No talks at all is fine, for a musical or testimony program. To add a talk on one Sunday only, see add or remove a speaker slot.
3. Make a new template
SettingsSacrament meetingMeeting templates
- Tap + New template.
- Under Whose template is it?, leave The bishopric for a Sunday. Picking an organization makes one of its programs instead (see plan your organization's program).
- Under What is it for?, choose A Sunday.
- Type a Template name, such as Primary Program.
- Under Start from, choose A clean slate, or Copy of a template you have.
- Tap Create.
It's then one of the kinds offered under Change type on a Sunday (see change what kind of Sunday it is).
4. Reset or delete a template
Heads up
Both buttons ask first, and neither can be undone. Reset to the standard program, then Reset it, replaces this template's blocks, and your changes to it are gone. On Standard Sunday it goes back to 1stHour's own program and speaker mix. On any other template it copies your ward's Standard Sunday. Delete this template, then Delete it, removes it. Keep it leaves the template as it was.
Standard Sunday can be reset but not deleted. After a delete, a Sunday someone has worked on keeps its program. A draft nobody has touched follows the template its kind falls back to: for a regular Sunday, Standard Sunday.
5. How a template change reaches your Sundays
A change to a template reaches the coming Sundays made from it, in two ways:
- A Sunday nobody has worked on
- A draft with nobody named in it, never published or changed, follows the template whole: its blocks, their order and its speaker slots.
- A Sunday someone has worked on
- Published ones included, it keeps its own shape, people and picks. Each block whose words are still the template's takes the new words. A block reworded on that Sunday keeps its own.
A Sunday that has passed keeps the words it was read with. The top of Standard Sunday's screen says the same in short.
6. Keep blocks to reuse
SettingsSacrament meetingBlock library
The Block library holds blocks you use now and then, such as a missionary farewell or a choir number. They're offered under Add a block on every Sunday, and under + Add a standing block on a template. The wording is kept; anything filled in each week starts blank.
- Tap + New block to start one, then fill it in (see the block editor).
- Or, on a Sunday, open a block you made for it and tap Save for reuse.
- Tap a saved block to change it, or Remove to take it out. It asks first. Programs it was already added to keep their copy.
Organizations see these blocks too, under From the bishopric, and can add them to their own programs.
7. Change one Sunday's program
On a Sunday, under The program, each block is a row. The line beside the heading counts them, such as "12 blocks · 9 printed", with a key: said (read at the pulpit) and printed (on the program).
- Move a block: drag it, or tap ↑ or ↓.
- Remove a block: tap ✕. It asks first; Remove it takes it off this Sunday, with anything filled in on it. A speakers block with people in it is different, and its question says so: they stay on the Sunday, shown under another speakers block if one is left. With none left, the program doesn't show them until you add Speakers & music back.
- Add a block: tap + Add a block at the end and pick one. Saved blocks show Saved for reuse under their name. Speakers & music is offered only on a program that has no speakers block.
A change here is for this Sunday only. The template doesn't change.
Heads up
Take the speakers off before you remove the Speakers & music block. Removing the block doesn't take them off the Sunday's record, but it leaves them nowhere to show.
8. The block editor
Tap a block on a Sunday, a template or the Block library to open it.
- Title
- The block's name, as the planner and the script show it.
- Where this appears
- Pulpit (read in the conductor's script, nothing printed), Both (said aloud and printed) or Program (printed, never read aloud).
- What you'll read
- The words the conductor reads. A block that's printed also has On the program: a Program title and Program details, which is what prints.
- Fields in this block
- On a block you made yourself: blanks filled in each week, such as a name or a hymn. Tap + Add a field and pick Member, People, Calling, Hymn, Date or Text.
- Save for reuse
- On a Sunday's block: keeps its title, place and wording in the Block library. Built-in parts, such as the welcome, don't have it.
- Remove
- Takes the block off. It asks first.
On a Sunday, a block from the template says whose words it has:
- "Words from the … template. A change here is for this Sunday only." Changing them makes them this Sunday's own.
- "This Sunday's own words. Changes to the … template no longer reach this block." Tap Use the template's words again to follow the template again.
Change it on the template opens the same block on the template, to change it for every Sunday ahead.
